Savannah State University- Visual and Performing Arts Program, Players by the Sea | Acting III class presents
OBA OEDIPUS
an outdoor, socially distanced, Yoruba inspired masked performance on the front steps of the Kennedy Fine Arts Center at Savannah State University.
SYNOPSIS: Oedipus seeks to cure his city of a mysterious plague by discovering the murderer of the former king. Captivating and cathartic, Sophocles’ seminal Greek tragedy brings to light enduring questions of identity, fate, and free will that reverberate in startling ways in the 21st century. Oba Oedipus is performed from an original adaptation by Nick Bartel and interpreted with artistic license to Yorubaland.
