ABOUT EMMAUS HOUSE SOUP KITCHEN:
Each weekday morning, Emmaus House Soup Kitchen serves approximately 200 to 250 hot and hearty plates of food to those who would otherwise go without. The word breakfast is used very lightly, as the Chef calls the meal “…a time of day rather than a type of food…” They serve good home-cooked southern style food that nourishes not only the body but the soul.
In addition to a meal, they also provide bathroom, shower, and laundry services. The unsheltered people facing homelessness primarily come from over 30 tent communities spread around the city. These are individuals who sleep in conditions not meant for human habitation where hygienic solutions are not in place. Emmaus House provides a space where our most vulnerable can come inside, away from the elements, and maintain a very basic human need: Dignity.
